Skincare can often feel like guesswork, but there is a science to it. Your skin is affected by so many factors; environment, food, and what you put on it. How do I know what is best for my skin?
It may seem straightforward, but have you felt your face lately? This is the number one way that our coloristas find what is the best fit for you. Does your skin feel rough and tough? Even if you tend to be oily, this could be a great indicator that you have not been moisturizing enough. It may sound dramatic but your skin is traumatized. Here is what you can do to fix it…
Think of what you are putting on your skin as if they were layers of a canvas. We want our first layer to be the support. Your support needs to be clean, so make sure you invest in a good cleanser that is gentle and not too stripping (but still kills harmful bacteria and removes dirt). Everything that goes on your support (your skin) should be yummy and supercharge that work of art. Your cosmetics should be so yummy that even art haters will love them. That’s how we formulate!
Untinted Serum Primer
We have 2 versions of this product. Both are vegan.
Product 1 : Morning Dew Drops
Is your skin highly reactive? Does it get oily even though it feels rough and dry? Do you break out easily with occlusive products like dimethicone and methicone? You will want to opt for Morning Dew Drops. Start with 2 drops and you can always use more as needed.
We were one of the first companies to use Meadowfoam seed oil in our makeup, and you probably see it in many places now. That’s because this ingredient is amazing for people with oily and dry skin. It works to chill out your skin’s sebum production (oil) so that you aren’t accidentally clogging your pores.
We also use cosmetic-grade olive oil. This reduces your skin’s water loss naturally while also plumping the skin with moisture and mimicking the look of hydrated skin.
To prevent microbial growth both in storage and on your face we use cosmetic-grade Elderberry extract. It also offers antioxidant and moisturizing benefits to the skin.
To prevent acne breakouts, kill bad bacteria, reduce skin inflammation (psoriasis, eczema, etc), unclog pores, and provide antifungal support we use cosmetic-grade lavender.
Lastly, we use cosmetic-grade lemon for its pro-youth and acne-fighting benefits. It is high in vitamin c which helps increase collagen and prevent damage from free radicals. Lemon also tames oily skin and chemically removes dead skin that can clog pores and cause acne, these same properties help shrink pores.
Product 2 : Dewluxe
Our other product is Dewluxe. This formula is for people who have more balanced skin. Maybe your skin isn’t super rough but tends to feel dry in certain weather. Or if your skin is actually very oily and always feels soft and supple, you’ll always look younger than the rest of us, but you can still use a tiny amount of pro-youth benefits to supercharge your natural glow. The ingredients of Dewluxe are very similar except the technique we use to blend and the product does not contain cosmetic-grade olive oil.
This product is often what people with extremely dry skin want to opt for, but it may not be rich enough for their needs. You’ll end up having to use more of this product to get the look you want. We believe that less is more and makeup should enhance you, not feel uncomfortable and cakey. Lightweight makeup is our specialty. This product is excellent for people with combination to normal skin. Often, people find the a few months of TLC with Morning Dew Drops prepares their skin for Dewy Decadence. While some fall in love with Morning Dew Drops (and we totally get it), you may want to at some point switch to something easy and simple. This formula has our pure mineral makeup mixed in, so you get that zinc and titanium screen you love without the need for the loose minerals.
We have many of the same ingredients as Dewluxe in this formula. Aside from the built-in colorant, the other addition is cosmetic-grade honey. Honey makes this product not vegan, but it is extremely beneficial to oily and acne-prone skin. It also has antiseptic properties and is perfect for those looking to slow the progress of wrinkles. There is a reason honey has been revered since ancient times, and we aren’t looking to mess with a good thing. For the vegans out there, we’re happy to come up with a formula for you without honey, but would love to encourage opting for Dewluxe and the Loose Mineral Foundation. The honey acts as a natural binder for the mineral and prevents us from using short-shelf life products, that way you can use your product for its natural usage length.
Many people still opt for a Loose Mineral foundation to dust over their Dewy Decadence, and we support that for more coverage.
Loose Mineral Foundation is a pure mineral and will not dry out your skin. It is made with pure mineral products. We consider it to be skin neutral as it doesn’t provide moisture but is non-comogenic and dimethicone, methicone, fragrance, and other irritant-free. It contains zinc and titanium dioxide as a protective layer.
Blushes? Contour colors?
Are your cheeks feeling a bit dry? Maybe you seem to break out there a lot? One common ingredient in many pressed blushes and contour colors is alcohol. Alcohol is extremely common in concealers too. We do not use pressed products or ‘dry down’ liquids for that reason. While there are some very pricey alternatives to alcohol, they often significantly shorten the shelf life of a product. We went for a midground in our development of Crème de la Crème ebhuestm products. These products are multi-use and skincare-focused. We love the short and long-term benefits they give!
Shea butter: anti-inflammatory and moisturizing. Shea butter has significant levels of vitamins A and E, which means it promotes strong antioxidant activity. Antioxidants are important anti-aging agents
Tamanu: Known for wound healing and anti-inflammatory. Soothes and softens the skin. Promotes the formation of new tissue and healthy skin. Helps with inflammatory skin conditions like dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema. Treats acne. Helps speed up the healing process. Heals and reduces scars. Moisturises dry skin.
Monoi: Retains moisture and hydration. People regularly use monoi oil if they are suffering from dandruff, dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, split ends, frizzy hair, sunburn, skin discoloration, wrinkles, blemishes, age spots, hair loss, a weak immune system, oxidative stress, and other inflammatory conditions.
Babassu: Cooling and emollient Babassu oil are rich in antioxidants and fatty acids that make it great for your skin and hair. It's also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Cupuacu: Cupuacu butter is an excellent emollient that restores elasticity to the skin while providing antioxidants and hydration. It is considered a “super-moisturizer” because of its hydrophilic (water-loving) properties. As it carries water to the skin it makes skin supple, soft, and more elastin.
Murumuru: Hydrates, natural skin moisturizer. Murumuru butter is an excellent emollient known for its moisturizing properties. Won't clog your pores. May reduce the appearance of wrinkles. May help with eczema. Good for sensitive skin.
